My Testimony...

My parents both grew up Catholic, went to church and knew its catechism, but they never actually gave their life over to Christ. Just going through the motions. It wasn’t until after they were married that they went to a Christian Church with my cousin one Sunday. My dad said it was like Jesus and the Bible came alive there. He got saved and my mom followed. I grew up in that Christian Church in New York and got saved there at age 7.

We moved to Florida after that with a bunch of families from my own family and that church. I grew up going to Christian School, both in New York and Florida, so God’s Word was woven into the curriculum. There I learned Biblical worldview and regularly memorized Scripture. I’m also so thankful to have grown up going to churches that were led by Pastors who were strong in the Word and didn’t just teach to cater to new people, but went deep in the Word to help those of us who were already believers mature in faith.

In 11th grade, I dual-enrolled in community college. My first class was English and my teacher was a Christian. She saw that all my essays had a faith focus and loved it, so she decided to write a book. It taught college freshman how to write and became a required textbook for her class. In it, 13 of those pages were my papers from class. So, at 17 I was a published Christian author.

Similar to grade school, I went to a Christian University for pharmacy school. At the time, it was a liberal arts college and pharmacy was a new program to the school.  So while everyone else was taking electives in pharmacy, I was on the main campus taking electives in apologetics and ballroom dancing. Haha, I know. I’m eclectic like that 😉

I moved back to Central Florida after pharmacy school and residency, and a few years later I met Michael. Believe it or not, my parents and I started going to his family’s church when I was 13. His uncle (who was the Pastor baptized me at 14 – as pictured above). Michael didn’t live in Florida at the time, but we have photos that we were in the same places at the same time, yet never met. It wasn’t God’s timing till it was. Once we met, both our families were so excited!!

The moment I saw Michael, before we even said hi, the Holy Spirit said to me, he’s the one. I knew right then and there that Michael was gonna be my husband. A few years later we got married. During our ceremony, God’s presence came in such a beautiful way. Even now, friends and family still tell us how moved they were by our wedding—not because of the food or the dancing, but because they felt the presence of the Lord. Our prayer was that our wedding and marriage would reflect God’s love for His bride, the church—and we’re thankful that God used that moment to touch the hearts of those who were there. A few years after that came Roman and Eden which brings us to present day.

And then this...

At 7, I made that commitment to be saved and I was all in. I’ve just always had a love for the Lord ever since. Like my dad, I loved reading and studying the Word, reading books about the Christian faith and Christian life. Always tried to be bold in my faith, like preaching to my pharmacy school class.

Even when I didn’t have life experience to back up my advice, I had the wisdom of God’s Word and so people naturally sought out my advice in different areas of their lives. Although this type of coaching is new to me, it really isn’t. I’ve been naturally coaching family, friends, and co-workers my whole life.

Even though I’m definitely not perfect, I’ve realized in the years since being a mom that the confidence I have in my identity in Christ and the overflow of my faith to my family – while normal to me is quite rare to many Christian women today.

I don’t want to see any woman struggle with their identity in Christ or in their faith in God, when He designed us so uniquely for a purpose. So, I am taking my 18 years of health counseling and my 35 years in faith to coach women to deepen their faith and impact their family.

FUN FACTS ABOUT ME

Favorite Bible Verse

"Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven." Matthew 5:16

Favorite Christian Author

I absolutely love C.S. Lewis! He wrote The Chronicles of Narnia series (which I love), but aside from that he also wrote books with deep insight about Christian theology and apologetics, like Mere Christianity.

Favorite Christian Movie

We're going old school with Ten Commandments by Cecil B. DeMille with Charlton Heston. I honestly still love this movie. It is epic and has everything you could want in a movie and stays relatively close to Scripture.

Favorite Prayer Answered

I have 2! At the beginning of pharmacy school, my dorm-mate who is now a best friend, invited me to make a vision board (construction paper artsy type project). Little did I know at the time, but God answered every prayer and vision on that board! I also prayed fervently that my children would be saved and praise God they made that decision! As a bonus, I happened to be there for it, both times! God is so good!!

Favorite Christian TV Show

I loved Superbook as a kid. I still have the 1980's VHS version in my garage. But I am so happy that they remade it too and my kids watch it now and love it.

Christian Song Guaranteed to make me Cry

Redeemer - Nicole C. Mullen Alabaster Box - CeCe Winans

Christian Song Guaranteed to make me dance

Stomp - Kirk Franklin

Bible Individual you would have on speed dial

Not including Jesus, because that goes without saying... it would have to be Paul. The radical life change, the insane life events, the awesome wisdom and knowledge of the faith, yet the heart for God.

Have you read the whole bible?

Yes, although never directly from Genesis to Revelation. I've always skipped around. I've read some books of the Bible bunches of times and others just once.

Favorite book of the Bible

I named my son, Roman, so I do have an obvious favorite. I love the book of Romans, because it is so full of the foundations of our faith.

Favorite Verse in the Chaos of Motherhood

"But this I call to mind, and therefore I have hope: The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness." Lamentations 3:21-23 Even when it's been a tough day, I remember he has new mercy for us and we can start afresh every day.

Favorite Verse I taught my kids

“The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make his face shine on you and be gracious to you; the Lord turn his face toward you and give you peace.” Numbers 6:24-26 The Lord's prayer in Matthew is Jesus teaching us how to pray. But in the Old Testament, this is how the Lord prayed for His people the Israelites. And these verses are how my kids learned to pray. We used to pray this whole Bible verse before bed.
